Caring for your jewellery
A few habits keep silver bright and gold glowing for years.
Sterling silver
Silver reacts with moisture and sulphur in the air, so it will slowly darken — this is not a fault. Wipe with a soft cloth after wearing, store in the pouch or box provided, and bring back the shine with a silver polishing cloth whenever you like. Unplated silver can be worn in the shower; just dry it afterwards.
Gold & plated pieces
Solid gold needs little more than an occasional wipe. Rhodium and gold plating wears gradually with friction and chemicals: put jewellery on last (after perfume, lotion and sunscreen), take it off for swimming, the gym and sleep, and avoid harsh cleaners.
Stones & pearls
Moonstone, pearl and other natural stones are softer than metal. Keep them away from knocks and chemicals, and clean with a damp cloth only.
Storage
Store pieces separately so they don't scratch each other, ideally in an airtight pouch away from direct sunlight and humidity.
